Weekend update
2002-02-24 - In the evening.

A nice restful weekend. For a change.

This week should be fairly easy too. It's finals week at RIT, and things should be fairly slow. RITSMA dinner on Wednesday, so I'm running Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. *fun* *fun*. Track should be nice and deserted come later this week.

This weekend was a lot of hockey for me. Friday night I watched most of the USA/Russia game. Saturday was RIT Women's team vs. MIT.

I feel sorry for MIT. They're the last place team, and also were seeded last. The Corner Crew showed up, and did a few cheers. I feel bad, because the Women's team really needs some support.

RIT blanked MIT 15-0.

Highlights: We did the e^x cheer. Turns out e^x was started at MIT. (oops!) When the third period started, MIT came out and did the full version of e^x. Schooled us. At least we came back with "Next time, you should try scouting out the other team, and not our cheers!"

Also, #12 for MIT took 3 penalties during the game... brought her season total to 30 penalties (by far the most of anyone on either team).

Corner Crew Member: "Hey #12? Are you going for a record or something?"
#12 (From the penalty box): "I already have it, thank you!"

It was fun, we even got a "Thank you corner crew!" from a couple of members of the RIT squad.

We need to go to a *real* game against a real team then the team needs much more support.

It's jsut a shame that the men are playing at home this weekend, and the women play the ECAC East finals at Manhattanville.

*sigh*. And then there was the olympics. Canada's women's and men's teams beat the USA for gold medals. But, I gotta say that both games were well played, and a pleasure to watch. Can't wait to see the Sabres in action again on Tuesday. (Plus, as a hockey bonus... Tuesday, NJ takes on the Rangers. Richter vs. Martin Brodeur. Olympic goalie rematch!)

That is all for now.
