I want to know what you think!
Eight
2002-05-13 - In the afternoon

On my way to lunch this afternoon, I saw a box outside The Commons. I picked up a copy of the 2002 Signatures magazine.

Signatures is a literary/art magazine published by a team of students. It contains poetry, short written works, and art. A couple of years ago, I had a picture published in the Reporter Art & Literary issue, but that pales in comparison to this magazine.

I'm not much of one for the poetry, but some of the artwork is stunning. I'm particularly struck by one piece called "Eight", by Sergey Belov. Not just because I know Sergey, but the sheer ... i can't think of an adjective for this feeling... of this piece. It's a hand sketch of a hand making the sign for Seven, in (i'm guessing) charcoal on paper.

Hmm... that is strange.... it really is a seven. Oh well. I've done that before too. That picture I submitted to the Reporter a while back? Well, it was a picture of Jian from Moxy Fruvous. It was a really great picture, perfect focus, and a beautiful lens flare in it. And I called it Sad Girl, months after the fact. And then I showed Jian, and he asked why I called it "Sad Girl", noting that he doesn't play the drums on that song.

Oops.

Oh well. You live, and you learn.

I thought I was going to talk about art, and I end up with a story from my life.

"I apologize. I seem to have strayed a bit from my original brief. In conclusion: Sex is more fun than logic. One cannot prove this. It just is, in the same sense that Mt. Everest is and Alma Cogan isn't. Good day." - John Cleese, The ... Soundtrack of ... Monty Python and the Holy Grail
